All About Ohio Woman Ta’Kiya Young

Ta’Kiya Young (August 1, 2002-August 24, 2023) was a 21-year-old Ohio woman shot dead by an officer of the Blendon Police Department. According to sources, Young was a mother of two and was expecting another child when she was fatally shot by an officer from the Blendon Police Department.

The incident unfolded after officers responded to a report of a theft involving Young allegedly stealing alcohol from the Kroger store on Sunbury Road.

Blendon Police Chief John Belford stated that Young, in her car, moved forward towards an officer, who then discharged his firearm through her car window, injuring her.

Tragically, Young succumbed to her injuries and also lost her unborn daughter. On August 30, 2023, Ta’Kiya’s family called for the release of the bodycam footage to gain a clear understanding of the events that transpired. The police department has committed to making the video available on September 1.

Meanwhile, the deceased woman’s family has started a GoFundMe campaign to raise enough money for Ta’Kiya’s funeral and memorial expenses.

Police Shot Ta’Kiya Young

On August 24, 2023, the police received a report of multiple individuals allegedly leaving a store with stolen items. Among them was a woman named Young, who was accused of taking several bottles of alcohol. Upon arrival, one officer approached Young’s car from the driver’s side and instructed her to stop while another officer positioned themselves in front of the vehicle.

In response, Young accelerated her car forward, and the officer standing in the car’s path fired a single shot through the front windshield. The vehicle traveled approximately 50 feet before coming to a halt on the sidewalk outside the store.

Tragically, Young lost her life shortly afterward. It’s worth noting that Young was pregnant and was expected to give birth in November, but sadly, her unborn daughter also did not survive the shooting. The investigation into this fatal incident is being led by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation.

The names, ages, and racial backgrounds of the two officers involved have not been disclosed. Following standard procedure, both officers have been placed on paid administrative leave while the shooting is under investigation.
